Department Overview The laboratories at Children's Hospitals and Clinics are full service facilities that offer a complete spectrum of laboratory techniques for the evaluation of pediatric disorders. Laboratories are located on both the Minneapolis and St. Paul campuses and and provide services on an inpatient and outpatient basis. Disciplines include Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Virology, Serology, Blood Bank, Immunology/Flow Cytometry, Histology and Pathology. Position Summary Accountable for the day to day technical operations of the hematology, coagulation and urinalysis departments of the lab. . Supports testing and staffing activities to ensure section testing meets quality and service expectations. Acts as a lab liaison among all areas of the hospital. Provides leadership in quality, safety and regulatory activities. Promotes the development of the team. Medical Laboratory Scientist Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Chemistry or Biology or related fields. Certified as a Medical Technologist, Clinical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Laboratory Scientist by American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) board of registry or equivalent professional organization per CLIA standards. License/Certification/Registration required? Yes, see above. Education: Required? Yes, see above. If so, why? CLIA '88 regulations Experience: *Minimum 3-5 years of clinical laboratory experience. *Previous leadership experience preferred. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: *Must be highly organized, efficient, and multifunctional. *Demonstrated interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. *Knowledge of laboratory equipment, instrumentation and terminology. *Knowledge of regulatory and accreditation standards. *Ability to lead teams and coach individuals. Positions that require night, weekend or on-call work may be eligible for shift differentials or premium pay.
