New Jersey Resources (NJR) is seeking a Senior Project Controls Specialist to support the project team in managing growth and maintenance of capital expenditure projects, such as facility expansions and equipment upgrades critical to the organization’s strategic objectives. The Senior Project Controls Specialist focuses on project financials and documentation to ensure every project expense is properly captured. They will also assist with project documentation and cost control efforts that help keep projects on budget, compliant, and delivered on time.

Major Responsibilities:

• Performs cost analysis and provides cost control assistance for growth and maintenance of capital expenditure projects.
• Manages the project approval workflow and supports accurate coding, tracking of all invoices, including retainage payments and confirms that invoice rates align with contractual agreements while monitoring actual expenditures and commitments for each project.
• Works internally to deliver monthly project forecasts and tracks detailed actuals and commitments.
• Manages project controls, processes, and reporting functions to ensure transparency and keep management and stakeholders informed.
• Implements structured financial oversight framework with gated planning, variance analysis and standardized documentation.
• Maintains formal risk management framework for capital construction projects.
• Develops and maintain standardized documentation templates to promote accountability, reduce inconsistencies, and support audit-ready recordkeeping.
• Participates in and documents weekly internal and external coordination meetings with contractors, engineers, suppliers, and others as required.
• Maintains project files and information to support the accurate retrieval of information and support the Project closeout process.
• Coordinates the completion of all close-out documentation and supports the team in conducting lessons-learned meetings.
• Coordinates with local administrative personnel to facilitate the requisition and procurement of essential services and materials.
• Support Project Managers with forecasting and data collection while demonstrating effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Position Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management information systems or related field
• A minimum of 5 years of project controls experience supporting capital projects or other relevant job-related experience.
• Experience within the energy or construction sector, and/or direct involvement in coordinating projects, tasks, and project teams preferred
• Ability to work efficiently in a dynamic, multi-task oriented environment.
• Strong attention to detail with well-developed organizational skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills with ability to resolve issues professionally.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI, Oracle, and Microsoft Project.
• Intermediate-level Excel proficiency in Excel, including expertise in pivot tables, generating graphs and handling substantial data sets.
• Basic knowledge of midstream projects is preferred.
• Occasional overnight travel may be required. Occasional visits to assets for project meetings.

Job Location Type is Hybrid

Compensation: Expected base pay range for this role will be $87,700- $111,800.
Base pay is based on several factors including, experience, skills, and knowledge.

This role will be eligible to participate in an annual short term incentive program.
