Leaf River Energy Center, owned and operated by NJR Midstream, a subsidiary of NJR is seeking an Instrumentation & Electrical Technician for the Taylorsville, MS office. Under supervision individual will implement and maintain electrical power circuits and equipment, control and automation systems, and electronic and pneumatic equipment used in pipeline applications, compressor stations, plant operations and measurement facilities. Operate, repair, install, troubleshoot and perform planned maintenance and corrective tasks on equipment such as pipelines, valves, valve actuators, instrumentation and electronic equipment, tubing and fittings, pig traps and rectifiers. Performs line locates, leak surveys, maintains Right of Way (ROW) and markings, oversees foreign line crossings and third-party excavations near company pipelines. Operates and maintains assigned equipment in a manner that meets operational needs in compliance with company and regulatory requirements. Maintains core operational task qualifications. Major Responsibilities: • Duties include installing, inspecting, maintaining, operating, troubleshooting, repairing and calibrating various mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical and electronic equipment; all appropriate documentation associated with the duties • Perform preventative maintenance checks on pumps, compressors, drivers and auxiliary equipment • Calibrate pressure transmitters, temperature transmitters and gas meters; troubleshoot gas meter errors • Install, program and troubleshoot program remote terminal units and flow computers • Work with Pipeline Controllers in performing point-to-point testing (field support only) • Troubleshoot and tune gas regulators, control valves and actuators • Maintain gas chromatographs • Performs Inspection and Maintenance (I&M) checks on all control systems • Maintain electrical switch gear and power distribution up to 4160V • Responsible for the general upkeep and maintenance of all facilities and equipment as needed • Responds to requests to markout company facilities in accordance with accepted standards, including associated record-keeping • Completes all required safety and OQ training programs • Performs and/or assists with: o Locates facilities and reference points utilizing maps, drawings and Global Positioning System (GPS) o Patrolling pipelines and Right of Ways, installing and maintaining pipeline and aerial markers, identifying and monitoring encroachment issues, and developing positive relationships with landowners along the pipeline Right of Way o Pigging operations at various checkpoints on pipeline o Compressor station operations, various flow control equipment, and troubleshooting of related subsystems. Includes startups, shut-downs, combustion control issues and operation of meter stations o Preventative and emergency pipeline maintenance work including leakage surveys, integrity surveys, cathodic protection surveys, valve inspections and maintenance, and equipment calibration o Assist mechanics when needed o Train as a backup gas controller/operator • Assists with calculating, compiling, and/or preparing information and reports including, but not limited to: o Gas/liquid flow and quality o Maintenance and/or repair logs o Collecting samples (gas/liquids) o Pipeline/corrosion activities o Leakage survey/patrolling pipelines • Identify, report and correct safety and environmental concerns; complies with all regulatory, environmental and safety rules and standards, as well as company policies • Completes accurate records of repair and maintenance activities; documents changes to as-built drawings as required • Suggests equipment improvements and new equipment purchases Position Specifications: • Associates degree in job related technical training or equivalent military training • Minimum of 3 years of related work experience • Proficient in communications protocols, especially Modbus and/or Hart • Ability to read and utilize equipment manuals, drawings, schematics, alignment sheets and P&ID drawings • Knowledge and experience applying and interpreting results from common electrical measurement instruments (voltmeter, ammeter, ohmmeter, oscilloscope, etc.) • Able to install conduit, tubing and electrical wiring associated with controls and equipment supply • Working knowledge of National Electric Codes • Proficient with electronic test instruments • Knowledge of process controls and gas processing fundamentals • Ability to appropriately react to visual, audio and other signals, including alarms and instructions • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license • Must obtain OQ qualifications in concordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements; may be required to achieve and maintain certifications as required to perform job duties • Ability to maintain a working knowledge of regulatory requirements (OSHA, DOT, EPA and state regulations) and Company Standard Operating Procedures including required documentation • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize assigned responsibilities and manage all activities with a focus on safety and compliance • Required to work indoors and outdoors, in and around mechanical, industrial and electrical equipment with high noise levels; occasionally work in temperature extremes due to weather conditions and operating equipment • Must be able to use physical force to lift, push, pull and operate equipment and tools; ability to lift up to 50 pounds from ground level • Will climb and work at various heights and may work in a standing, sitting, lying, crouched or kneeling position; ability to work in areas with limited access or cramped spaces • Requires the ability to get in and out of vehicles regularly and ride over rough roads • Will work with or near hazardous chemicals and may be required to wear SCBA and restrictive PPE • May be assigned to shiftwork, subject to overtime, 24/7 call out and extended workdays and/or workweeks • Will be required to carry a cell phone • Must live within 60 miles of assigned location * The above job description is reflective of the primary duties of this position and in no way limits the supervisor from assigning any other duties, responsibilities or initiatives as deemed necessary. Other Details: Compensation: Expected base pay range for this role will be $66,300- $84,500. Base pay is based on several factors including, experience, skills, and knowledge. This role will be eligible to participate in an annual short term incentive program. PHMSA-required drug tests include testing for marijuana. The use of marijuana, or testing positive for marijuana, is disqualifying and will lead to removal from performing safety-sensitive functions as well as disciplinary action. |
